080927 The Adventure begins- Moto GP run

The tour group is off on their big adventure this day for the ride down to the MotoGP. Fittingly we will ride with them to the brekkie stop which is traditionally at Kyogle. Meet 8am at the Shell Calamvale for the ride via Beaudesert, Rathdowney and the Lions Road to the Box and Dice Cafe. Afterwards we bid farewell to the GP boys and head home either on the Summerland Way or via Murwillumbah and Numinbah again.Stay Upright: Go to the Blog and view the rides

080920 The Ocean Trip to Cabarita

In respect of this week where the trip is to Cabarita and breakfast at Dave's could I please have an RSVP by Thursday from those intending to ride so I can give our hosts an estimate of numbers.
Ride Report:
Well, what a day - Travelling by the new bypass ( fantastic)we were all made welcome by Dave and Shannonat a lovely spot overlooking the Cabarita Beach . As a cook, Dave is a great Ducati rider (and the sausages were perfect). A quick glass of champagne (curtesy of ???) and off to Byron Bay for a (GB Ginger Beer). We are Tough! Our own Space Cadet, Adrian again disappeared. Off to Ballina and we picked him up at the Roundabout to Byron. One group headded off for Nimbin( I think) the other followed Neil- well , we found a great ride up to UKI via the dirt roads of the coastal ridges, bypass Murwullimbah (Speed Week) and over to Nerang via the NAtural Arch road. Great ride. Made life a bit of fun and Andrew, Steve , Kim , and Neil survived. Hope the speed boys are all ok somewhere else!! watch this space for the update. Back up to Brisso by 2.30 after what was a great precurser for the next weekend. Pity Ken missed the dirt. Andrew loved it- Not!

080913 Up Toowoomba Way

Ride Report:

Great day up via the back roads of Ipswich and the Laidley so the scenery was delightful. Except for Brendan, the attending crew are going to the Moto GP- Adrian, Kim,Neil, Henry, Steve, with Pete doing a sting down from the Kin Kin hinterland for some practice. Lots of decisions made and the tension builds. Back via the Esk sweepers and over the hill to Neals for a tipple. Lovely ride and lots of fun. the Scribe.

Ride Report: "Tell me, which way is Velleneuve again?" direct quote from Adrian. as he sits at the Mt Glorious turnoff for one hour and the boys wander the backwood trails of Woodford and Kilcoy looking for the tangled wreck of the Dave P's GS1200. Dave rode that Susy very hard. A good swap for a ride gone wrong. Lesson learnt is that the tailend charlie needs to keep an eye on all chaps and the riders needs to keep an eye out for the rider in front and behind. The ride was superb. Weather great & the roads clear. Adrian, Ken, Dave P, Kim, Craig, Ian, Neal, Steve, Andrew, and Bernie took off from the Gap BP. Scribe

080830 Montville at the Edge

This week we meet 7 am at the Shell, Gympie Road Aspley for a ride to Montville for Brekkie at The Edge. The ride will head up the Highway and take the Landsborough turnoff to Maleny and then head along the range to Montville. After brekkie we back track to Maleny and head to Woodford and then over Mt Mee to Dayboro and then Samford. The plan then is to go up the back way from Samford to Mt G with a stop at the restaurant on the top before heading to our respective homes. Refer map below for more details.

Unfortunately I'm a non-starter this week due to our move of work premises so I hope all goes well for the ride group.

Ride Report;
Hi all, the ride was superb, with the weather balmy to say the least, Up to the Edge was a bit boring up the highway to Lanndsborough via the Steve Irwin way. Except for a hickup with Darryl (sorry nearly forgot him), the ride up was OK. Bit disjointed without the usual RED flash at the front but we got there. Kim lead, with Bernie, Steve,Adrian, Andrew (back from Longreach), Henry, Neil, Ian, with Brendon an ?? and Pete meeting us up there. Bit of a run on the Poached eggs and the coffee was good and hot. Moto GP Lads had a meeting about the Trip and it was agreed that we should all go! Lots of different ideas and should be fun getting there and back.
Ride back got us all a bit lost. Henry took us up Lady Cairncross way to avoid the saturday crowds of Maleny. After that we sort of got seperated with Adrian, Bernie and Andrew off way ahead. The other group stopped at Somerset and had a natter with a jet ski mate of Neils- nice lifestyle that one.
Neal's for a coffee and back down Glorious with a sneeky Traffic Bike Copper sitting in sneeky places catching the poor lads. Good thing we ride at the limit.
