Clifton Ride Report

Definitely one of the best rides we do, even if it's a bit long is this Clifton run. Riders last weekend were Steve, Mike, Henry, Craig, Jim (new to the group), Kim, Andrew, Tim, Bernie & wife Helen, Ian, David and Ken. We were a little late getting away due to the accident with a car suffered by Bernie & Helen. Not too serious but enough to give both a shake up. From the Boonah BP we took the highway to the Wulkuraka connection road and then headed on the back roads to the Clifton turn just before Grantham. The ride from here to Clifton was a beauty. At Clifton there were plenty photosynthesising in the sun while brekkie was cooked. After nourishment we popped down the road to the Nobby Pub for a quick look and ale. The group then decided that next trip up this way should have the pub as the brekkie stop. The owners agreed to make special dispensation for us and cook brekkie if we phone ahead. We said our goodbyes to Bernie and Helen here and rode to Toowoomba where we refuelled.
In Toowoomba we took the route around the city centre and bade goodbye to Mike and Dave who headed home from there. After sticking to the speed limit all the way from Highfields to Hampton thanks to the flashing lights of on-coming traffic we cruised past the radar trap and headed down the hill to Esk. Another magnificent piece of road was enjoyed by all. Jim left us somewhere on this leg to visit his son.
At Esk we said farewell to Steve, Ian, Tim and Andrew who all needed to get home for one reason or another. A gentle ride up Mt G ensued with a wine or beer at the restaurant overlooking Moreton Bay was the penultimate pleasure to the ride home down the twisty hill. The atmosphere was so clear from the deck at the restaurant that the sand hills on Moreton Bay where quite noticeable the way they reflected the sun. ...........That ride still has me smiling.
